Architrave Journal emerged from a collective frustration with contemporary design media, which had largely abandoned critical inquiry in favor of brand catalogues, mood boards, and affiliate roundups. We observed spaces and objects being judged solely by digital imagery rather than structural logic, material longevity, or practical utility.
We resolved to build a publication governed by classical editorial discipline. Our team reviews physical objects and built environments in person, consulting with the artisans, joiners, and stone masons responsible for their execution. We print our journals on tactile, archival paper stock supplied by traditional European mills, producing physical documents that outlast disposable digital commentary.
We hold no financial relationships with manufacturers, accept zero product sponsorships, and decline brand placements. The journal is supported directly by our readership through individual print copy purchases and subscriptions, preserving our duty to truthful, measured criticism.

Our Production Principles
